It’s time now to buy your first headset, lap pad and log book, but where do you go?? Your local aviation community is a great place to get known and involved. The best way to get involved is to join a local group, where they can set you up with a good pilot supply store, or shop at your local airport shop. Most airport shops sell items ranging from fuel strainers to headsets at cheap and competitive prices. After you have gone there a few times, you will get to know the people there, making you feel at home. When you first start your training just a few items are needed. By the time you finish your training you will be able to fill a full size pilot’s bag. To start, most students only need:
